This we are talking to Alycia Oppenheim about eating disorders. Alycia tells her story and how she overcome.
Alycia, who commonly goes by Aly, is a marketing coordinator for an architecture firm in south Florida. She also teaches college English, as she has a masters degree in Shakespeare Studies. Shakespeare is her greatest passion, followed very closely by penguins and Disney. Aly likes to speak out on mental health awareness, eating disorder awareness and domestic violence awareness as these are all topics that hold a place in her heart. When Aly is not working, you can find her traveling by plane or by car, spending time with her many nieces and nephews or watching movie marathons with her brother and sister in law.

Sharon Cancel affectionately known as Lady Ninja has been riding motorcycles since 1974. After retiring from a career in the Medical Field, Lady Ninja has pursued a Career in the motorcycle industry. She has worked as a consumer representative for Kawasaki Motorcycles, race team coordinator for Orient Express Racing, community liaison for AMA Prostar Drag Racing as well as holding many hats in a multi-line dealership from Parts Manager to Finance and Sales Manager. She was a diplomat for Victory motorcycles.
She is also the CEO and National Spokesperson for Motorcyclists Who Care a 501 (c) 3 not for profit charitable organization, formed in 2005 in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. In November of 2009 Lady Ninja was appointed Executive Coordinator and Media Relations Director for the National Sport Bike Association (a motorcycle rights organization). In January 2011 she was unanimously voted onto the Board of NCOM (National Coalition of Motorcyclists) as the Executive Director of the National Sport Bike Association, and the Women in Motorcycling Representative. In May of 2011, Sharon received the prestigious “Silver Spoke Award” from the National Coalition of Motorcyclists (NCOM). She also is a member of the American Motorcycle Association and the Women’s Motorcyclist Foundation.
With over ten years in the industry and forty years of riding experience Lady Ninja prides herself in keeping her finger on the pulse of the industry and the motorcycle community. A New York City native now residing in Florida Lady Ninja has continued to do her due diligence in the motorcycle community by speaking at many motorcycle events on topics ranging from “how to change to your oil” to “know your rights”.
Lady Ninja’s first love is road racing, second is drag racing. “I try to attend as many track days as I can but I also love to watch the pros get it in. From Moto GP, Superbike, AMA to WERA I love it all. Like a lot of us my roots are with drag racing I started with cars and then bikes, I love drag racing also and have many friends that participate in both. Motorcycling is either in your blood or it isn’t, you can’t go forward unless you know where you came from. I love being involved in the motorcycle community and the industry but whenever given the chance I am on two making it do what it do. Riding my bike is what keeps me sane in this sometime crazy world we live in, nothing like a ride to keep you in perspective.”
Lady Ninja will unselfishly share her knowledge with anyone who asks. She has spoken at many events and is always available to help promote motorcycle safety and the art and freedom of motorcycling.
Among her many accomplishments Lady Ninja also holds a 5th degree Black Belt in Kung Fu. She has also received accolades as Student of the Year from the International Kung-Fu Federation and Kuroshi- Do Jujitsu Federation.
She currently is working as a Flight Attendant for Southwest Airline and in her spare time she is a competitive Ballroom Dancer.
This proud mother of two truly believes that with Faith and Trust in God all things are possible.
